After the Houston Astros pulled off a miraculous 2022 MLB postseason, it is already time to look ahead to 2023. The season just ended, but we are already going to look ahead to see the best and worst World Series odds for next year. Yes, you read that right. It is never too early to bet on baseball.
Playoff baseball is very special, but the second the last pitch is thrown, it gets lonely in the baseball world. Free agency just opened up, but it will take time before we get some spicy signings. For now, let’s just look ahead to the next calendar year and the 2023 World Series odds.
Best World Season Odds to Win it All
Betting on the World Series now is quite risky, but that is the beauty of it. We could wait until we see where some of the big fish in the free agency market wind up, or we can bet now while the odds do not mean as much.
The reigning World Series champions have the best odds of winning next year, right? No, the Los Angeles Dodgers have the best World Series odds to win it at +550. After winning 111 games and getting upset in the NLDS, oddsmakers love the Dodgers to bounce back and end their playoff woes. The Houston Astros are just behind them at +600.
All of these odds will be before any major free agent signings, so it will be intriguing to see the odds change as the cold weather continues.
We are heading back to the NL for the third-best odds, with the Atlanta Braves at +800. They are one of the best teams on paper, and if they escaped the wrath of Philadelphia, they would have been a major threat to winning it all. To no surprise, the New York Yankees are next with +1000 odds as we finally get into quadruple digits. Even after their bipolar season, the Yankees are always expected to succeed.
The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets are at the fifth and sixth positions at +1000 and +1200, respectively. All of these odds seem fair, but the Blue Jays at +1000 seems a tad farfetched. Is there something I am missing?
These are the top six odds to win it all, but as a bonus, here is a team you should keep an eye on. The San Diego Padres have +1400 odds of winning the World Series. They are only going to get better this winter and will build upon a successful 2022 campaign. Expect big things for the team out West and maybe pick them on a futres bet, with favorable World Series Odds.
Do Not Bet on These Teams
Five MLB teams have odds in the triple digits to win the 2023 World Series. Before you scroll down, try to guess who they are.
Okay, your time is up. The Colorado Rockies are +10000 to win a ring next season. If the Rockies played all their games at home, they would probably make the playoffs, but they went 27-54 on the road this season. That was the second-worst road record in all of baseball.
Next on the list is the Cincinnati Reds at +12000. They started 2022 off as the worst team in MLB but got slightly better as the year went on. This team sold at the deadline, and the rebuild will continue.
Now, here is where things get ugly. The Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics, and Washington Nationals are all +15000 to win a championship next season. They are all tied for the worst odds, and deservedly so. Prove us wrong, underdogs.
Wrapping things up, let’s look at the best and worst teams to bet on. The Texas Rangers are +6000 as we speak and have the 20th-best odds entering the end of 2022. We have all heard the rumors that the Rangers want to open up the wallet this winter, so now is the best time to bet on them.
Their odds are only going to get better, so it might be worth the risk to take a shot on the team out of Texas, not named the Houston Astros.
