College Baseball Poll 2/23/21

Now that the first weekend of college baseball for 2021 is in the books, let’s look at the changes to the College Baseball Poll.

College Baseball Poll Moving Up

Ole Miss grabs the #1 spot after a successful weekend at the State Farm College Baseball Showdown. They were #6 in the nation before this event started and they defeat then #3 Texas Tech and then #9  Texas Longhorns  and finished off then #10 Texas Christian

Arkansas stated the weekend at #8 and promptly came away with three wins. They beat the same teams as Ole Miss. This vaulted them to #2 in the latest poll. Vanderbilt was #4 and possibly has the College Baseball Pollbest 1-2 pitching combo in college baseball in Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter swept their two games to move up one spot to #3. The Louisville Cardinals was set at #5 before their 3-game sweep of Bellarmine to nudge them up one spot the #4

Mississippi State went to 2-1 at the State Farm Showdown and moved up two spots to #5. The largest jump up was from the Miami Hurricanes at #11 as they took 2 out of 3 from the previous #1 team the Florida Gators. Miami is now #6 in the poll. UC Santa Barbara jumped to #9

College Baseball Poll Moving Down

Formerly at #2, the UCLA Bruins lost a series at home to San Francisco and is cemented at #8 this week. Texas Tech, previously mentioned, fell to #10 after losing three games. TCU moved down to #14 while Texas falls to #19. The West Virginia Mountaineers went 2- 2 against Georgia State and plummeted to #23.

College Baseball Poll Additions and Subtractions

The Duke Blue Devils moved into the Top 25 by winning 2 of 3 against Coastal Carolina over the weekend . One team fell out of the ranking as Arizona lost 3 of 4 contests at home to Ball State.
