MLB The Show 22: Diamond Dynasty Intro and All-Star Program
For those who love collecting baseball cards and building a winning fantasy team, MLB The Show 22’s Diamond Dynasty hits it out of the park.
Beginner’s Guide to Diamond Dynasty
The card-based mode allows players to collect all-time greats such as Roberto Clemente and Randy Johnson, to modern-day superstars such as Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge.
Once you have assembled your squad, you can set your lineup, bench, pitching rotation, and bullpen through Manage Squad.
After you set your team, you can put it to the test and challenge other players online through Ranked Seasons, a ratings-based mode that offers better rewards as you move up, or Battle Royale, a three-inning mode where you draft a squad of 26 players and compete for rare cards before earning two losses.
Example of a card’s attributes. Clemente is a 99 OVR diamond player, the highest overall in Diamond Dynasty.
The highest rating a player can have for a particular attribute is 125. The 99 Clemente, pictured above, has 125 contact against right-handers and left-handers, making him one of the best contact hitters in the mode. His power is not lacking either, as it is above-average against all pitchers. The highest rating for fielding and arm power is 99, in which Clemente is maxed out.
Cards can also be bought and sold on the marketplace with Stubs (the mode’s currency), earned through offline program progress, and gained through collections. For those who are breaking into the mode and not ready to play online, there are several offline single-player game modes.
Single-player game modes include:
Mini Seasons: Players compete in a multi-week fantasy league against other user-created squads.
Conquest: Gain territories and steal fans from MLB teams by winning three-inning games.
Showdown: Draft a team, beat individual challenges, and take on the Showdown Final Boss.
Play vs. CPU: Play against the CPU in a nine-inning game to earn XP.
Collections work just as if you are collecting physical baseball cards. Lock your cards in, and reap the rewards.
New content, challenges, and programs are usually released weekly, so be sure to check out the Diamond Dynasty home screen for the schedule.
MLB The Show Releases All-Star Program
Diamond Dynasty players will be able to build their own All-Star squad as The Show has dropped a new All-Star program with the best players from the first half of the season.
Fifteen players from the American League and National League are featured in the program. A Home Run Derby pack was also released featuring all eight contestants from the 2022 Derby, and it is headlined by a 99 Juan Soto. A 99 2022 All-Star Jackie Robinson is the collection reward, which can be completed by collecting 44 of the 2022 All-Star Game and Derby cards.

The best pitcher in the NL is Corbin Burnes. The Brewers’ ace has a five-pitch repertoire led by a devastating cutter, which is one of the hardest pitches to hit in the mode. Burnes’s delivery is extremely difficult to read and is someone no one wants to see on the mound.
Cardinals’ slugger Paul Goldschmidt will be the most sought after position player. Do not worry about Goldschmidt’s low fielding attributes, as first basemen of any quality can play the position at an elite level. “Goldy” will make southpaws fret with his 125 contact and 101 power against left-handers.

The ageless wonder Justin Verlander is the ace of the AL side. Verlander’s slow release will keep opposing players anxious, and a 99 break on his slider will keep batters off-balance.
Throwing in the dirt low-and-away is one of the more effective strikeout pitches in the game, so expect plenty of chasing when using Verlander.
Seattle’s young sensation Julio Rodriguez put on a show in the Derby, launching 63 homers in the first two rounds before falling to Soto in the finals.
But J-Rod is not the best AL position player for his power, even though he has 114 against lefties. It is his rocket arm. His 97 arm strength is the highest among the All-Star cards, and his 99 speed will ensure that he races across the outfield to get to a ball by any means necessary.
The All-Star program ends in about 20 days, so be sure to get on the grind now!
