The second closest team in this division is the Toronto Blue Jays with 53 wins and 43 losses putting them 12.5 games back from the Yankees, although they have the sixth best record in the whole league. It is safe to say that the Yankees are currently World Series favorites.

American League Central

The Minnesota Twins are currently in first place in the American League Central with a record of 52 wins and 44 losses. Their success rides a lot behind MLB All-Star Byron Buxton who has hit 23 home runs this season.

The second closest team in this division is the Cleveland Guardians who have a record of 48 wins and 47 losses putting them only 3.5 games back from first place. The Guardians still have a shot of taking first place, however, are currently facing a 3 game-losing streak.

American League West

To no surprise, the Houston Astros are yet again in first place in the American League West with a record of 64 wins and 33 losses. The Astros continue to have success year after year and are one of the favorites to win this year’s World Series.

The second closest team to the Astros is the Seattle Mariners and their chances of catching up to the Astros are very slim as they have a record of 52 wins and 45 losses. Despite this being a very solid record, they still sit a total of 12 games back from Houston.

National League East

The National League East is going to continue to be a race for first place for the rest of the season between the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves. The New York Mets currently sit at the top spot with a record of 59 wins and 37 losses.

The Braves are only 2 games back with a 58 win and 40 loss record. Both teams are more than capable of winning the World Series, so it is interesting to see who will have the number one spot by the end of the season. The last time these two teams played each other the Mets won the series 2 games to 1.

National League Central

At the top of the National League Central are the Milwaukee Brewers who have a record of 53 wins and 44 losses. The Brewers have a pretty evenly distributed team and will be interesting to watch against the Mets, Braves, or Dodgers if they make the playoffs.

Not far behind them are the St. Louis Cardinals who have a record of 51 wins and 46 losses putting them only 2 games behind the Brewers for first place.

National League West

At the top of the National League West and second overall in the league since the MLB All-Star Game are the Los Angeles Dodgers with a record of 64 wins and 31 losses. The Dodgers are currently the second-best favorite to win the World Series.

Behind them in second place in the San Diego Padres who have a record of 54 wins and 44 losses. Despite having the 7th best record in the league the Padres are still 11.5 games back behind the Dodgers.
