The MLB League Leader in Home Runs
The New York Yankees sit at the top of the league with an outstanding record of forty-four wins and only 16 losses. The Yankees can thank a lot of this success to power hitter Aaron Judge. Judge has been absolutely on fire this season, leading the league with twenty-four home runs.
Aaron Judge has showcased his skills so far this season by tallying up seventy-one hits, forty-eight RBIs, fifty-two runs, as well as batting .318. His skills have made the New York Yankees the most dominant team in all of baseball with an overall league-leading +127 run differential. Judge has created one of the best resumes in baseball this 2022 season making him a front runner for the AL MVP.
Minnesota Monster
Tied for the second-most home runs this season with eighteen, Byron Buxton has led the Minnesota Twins to a top-five record in the American League so far this season. After missing the playoffs in 2021, Buxton hopes to continue his hitting streak and take the Twins back to the playoffs.
Buzxton has tallied thirty-seven runs, forty-one hits, and thirty-two RBIs through 147 at-bats thus far. Although his batting average is only .236, when he makes contact with his pitch, that ball will be launched out of the park.
Polar Pete and the Mets
The New York Mets are off to a tremendous start as they are second overall in the league with forty wins and twenty-two losses. This record is only five games back from the New York Yankees, it is amazing to see the two New York teams run baseball.
A good deal of the Mets’ triumph this year is due to Pete Alonso. Pete Alonso is on pace to have his best career year, as he has proven to be a valid candidate for the NL MVP Race. Alonso is tied for second with Buxton for most home runs this season with eighteen.
Alonso is batting .284 with sixty-five hits, forty runs scored, and fifty-seven RBIs. The fifty-seven RBIs are good for second in the league behind Jose Ramirez with fifty-nine RBIs.
Yordan Alvarez and Mike Trout Keep It Close
Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros is fourth in the race for the league leader in home runs with seventeen. Alvarez is batting an amazing .315 average with sixty-three hits, thirty-eight runs, and forty-two RBIs. Alvarez and the Houston Astros are not new to success as they have been one of the top teams in MLB the last few seasons. Alvarez is on pace to hit forty-five home runs this season.
Mike Trout is right behind Alvarez with sixteen home runs, but I would not be surprised if he hits a hot streak and eventually becomes the league leader. Trout is one of the best power hitters the baseball world has ever seen. Trout is batting .293 with fifty-six hits, forty-two runs, and thirty-four RBIs. Although the Angels hit a rough patch in the last fifteen games of the season, with Trout healthy they are a completely different team.
