Key Points for Each Team in the Championship Series

With Houston and Boston tied 2-2 in their series and Braves ahead on the championship series against the juggernaut Dodgers, there are key points for the four teams to look at that will help them win their games and play in the World Series.

ALCS:

Boston Red Sox has made a great job with taking a split at Minute Maid Park and winning the first game at Fenway now they face the possibility to go again at Minute Maid but with a 3-2 lead over Houston.

The offense has to keep punishing Houston’s starters as they’ve done these 4 games, starters own an ERA of 20.3, Boston still needs the bats from Devers, Bogaerts but especially the hot bat of Kiké Hernandez and his 1.582 ops. The starting pitching staff has been the key for Boston the trio of Eovaldi, Rodriguez, and Pivetta can get the innings needed to take this series.

For Houston, the loss of McCullers Jr. has shown the weakness of the Astros starting rotation in this post-season by just pitching 6.2⅔ innings in the series, the bullpen has been good but they are starting to show signs of repetitive usage.

The series is gonna travel to Houston for games 6 and possibly 7, Houston needs to find a way for their starters to not let Boston score early in the game to have a shot in the series.

NLCS:

Braves, never expected to be 2-1 against the Dodgers, and neither did I, the Braves won the 2 games by walking off, it has shown how tight this series has been to their credit the pitching has been good enough to keep the Dodgers’ offense quiet by scoring 2 and 4 runs in Atlanta.

Every game in this series has been defined by 1 run, good bullpen management by Brian Snitker, and clutch hitting as we saw the first 2 games can give the edge that Atlanta will need to upset the Dodgers and go to the World Series for the first time since 1999.

Dodgers have to come back again from a series deficit to past the series they’re facing a weaker opponent than the Giants but still doesn’t mean it will be an easy path.

Dave Roberts needs a clear strategy about his game management with the pitching staff, Urias wasn’t someone to use in relief in Atlanta after being used exclusively as a starter this season and pitching career-high in innings, using Urias as your setup-man for Kenley Jansen wasn’t the correct call. Either you make a bullpen game and stick to the plan, use your starters, or an opener.

The Dodgers offense has been quiet these past games that it’s impossible to believe they will get outscored this whole series, Bellinger needs to step up and help the team the bats of Justin Turner and Trea also need to wake up, their offense is better I think it’s a matter of time before they wake up and outscore the Braves.
