Minor League Leaders

Minor League Leaders is here to give the baseball fan a sense of which players had top of the line years and should be considered as a real possibility to make each teams roster in the 2022 baseball season.

Best Batting Average

minor league leadersJose Miranda was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 8th round of the 2016 MLB draft. He was born on 6/29/1998 in Manati, Puerto Rico. He has gone through all of the levels of the minor leagues in the Twin organization and played for AAA  St.Paul Twins in 2021 at third base. Miranda had 535 at-bats and 184 hits for a league leading average of .344 for the season. He is currently listed s the 8th best prospect for the Minnesota Twins.

 

Runs Scored

minor league leadersRyan Vilade was born on 2/18/1999 in Grapevine, TX. He as drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB draft. He was 48th pick overall. He went to high school in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is  22 years of age at 6’2″ and 226 pounds and is an outfielder. He is #5 on the Rockies Top Prospect list. In 2021. Vilade played for the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes and led all the minor leagues in runs scored with 82. He had six at-bats  in the major leagues for the Rockies and is still looking for his first hit.

 

Home Runs

minor league leadersRyan McBroom has been around for awhile with several cups of coffee in the major leagues. However, in the 2021 season he led all minor league players with 32 home runs. McBroom played in the Kansas City organization at the AAA level in Omaha. He was born on 4/09/1992 in Fredericksburg, VA and drafted in  2014 by the  Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round . He was playing college ball at West Virginia. He has played in the major league level for th Blue Jays, Yankee and Royals.

minor league leadersAderlin Rodriguez in currently in the Detroit Tigers organization. In 2021, he led all minor league players with 94 RBI’s. He had 29 home runs and 326 doubles for Toledo, the AAA affiliation of the the Tigers. at 6’3″ and 210 lbs, he has toiled in the minors since 2009. He is prone to lots of strikeouts.He previously played for the New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres organizations and for the Orix Buffaloes of the Nippon Professional Baseball.

Stolen Bases

minor league leadersVidal Brujan is 23 years of age and is 5’20” and 180 lbs. He can play all three outfield positions  and is a second and third baseman also. The point is, they just want his speed in the lineup. He finished his minor league season at AAA for the Durham Bulls and led all the minor leagues with 44 stolen bases Brujan  is in the Tampa Rays system and the #2 prospect for them.

 

 

HITS

minor league leadersJake Noll was born on  3/08/1994 in Punta Gorda, FL and was draft in  2016 by the Washington Nationals in the 7th round  of the draft. He was out of Florida Gulf Coast University. Noll has had some time in the major leagues. In 2021, Noll led all the minor league in hits with 131.  He i a third baseman and has had too many at-bats in the MLB to meet prospect status.

 

 

OBP

minor league leadersKhalil Lee was born on  6/26/1998 in Newark, DE and was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 3rd round of the 2016 draft out of Flint Hill high school in Oakton, VA. He is 5’10” and 170 lbs and plays in the outfield. The Mets acquired him in the Andrew Benintendi deal. Lee in 2021, led all minor leaguers in OBP which was .451 on the year for Syracuse. He is #8 on the New York Mets prospect list.

 

Slugging

minor league leadersJuan Yepez is a member of the St. Louis Cardinal system and played at AAA Memphis on 2021. He is #27 on their prospect list and can play outfield or first base. Yepez led all of the minor leagues in slugging with a .589 average. St Louis acquired him in the Matt Adams trade.  Juan Yepez will be with the Cardinals on their post season roster for 2021.
