The Atlanta Braves have been crowned as the champions of the MLB. They battled through adversity and were able to outlast the Houston Astros en route to a world series trophy. Now that the season is over, the parade is done, and the dust has settled it is time to start looking at the 2022 season. Here are the way too early MLB 2022 standings predictions for the American League.

1. Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays will once again retool with a new crop of prospects looking to add depth to an already potent lineup and improved pitching staff.

2. New York Yankees

New York will go for broke when obtaining a new shortstop to wear the pinstripes. As always, expect the Yankees to spend to improve their already star-studded roster to compete for an AL East crown.

3. Boston Red Sox

With a healthy Chris Sale, the pitching staff will be much improved. They will compete for a division championship, but expect the Sox to be in the wild card conversation for the majority of the season.

4. Toronto Blue Jays

If the Jays can get some premium pitching in the off-season they will compete for a wild card spot once again. With a very dangerous lineup, they will truly be able to beat anyone on any night.

5. Baltimore Orioles

The O’s have a bunch of new prospects hitting the big leagues in 2022 and beyond, their Achilles heel is their pitching. If it is anything near last year’s performance, expect this team to once again be in the basement of the AL East.

1. Chicago White Sox

The White Sox are here to stay for a while. With a management group committed to keeping players here expect the Sox to run the AL Central for a few years to come.

2. Detroit Tigers

The Tigers will come into 2022 with a much-improved roster. Their mix of youth with veteran leadership will help move this team in the right direction.

3. Cleveland Indians

Cleveland will take a step back in 2022 and after suffering their first losing season since 2012 the Indians may look to rebuild and rebrand aspects of their franchise.

4. Kansas City Royals

Once again, the Royals have a lineup without much power to it. Their success will come down to their young pitching staff. Kansas City will go through the growing pains of having young pitchers on the mound in 2022.

5. Minnesota Twins

A franchise that seems to have lost its identity. The Twins seem like a team that was once a world series contender and now they are approaching rebuild territory in 2022.

1. Houston Astros

Houston has some unfinished business to attend to in 2022. Even with some key departures in the off-season, this team is built to compete once again for a World Series.

2. Los Angeles Angels

A team that battled the injury bug in 2021. They have all the star power to compete for a World Series. Their biggest obstacle is their pitching depth. Expect the Angels to be active in the offseason and get some arms to help the pitching staff.

3. Oakland Athletics

A team that returns five starting pitchers will bring consistency into the season. If they can find some diamonds in the rough come free agency, look out for the Athletics to be in the Wild Card race.

4. Seattle Mariners

This team realistically exceeded expectations in the 2021 season. If the Mariners are active in free agency and get some much-needed veteran consistency they may be able to repeat the success they found themselves having last year.

5. Texas Rangers

The Rangers will have a “trust the process” mentality to their roster this upcoming season. With a ton of youth on the roster, they will have to allow the players to grow by experience gained. This will be a long road to recovery for the Rangers in the next few years.
