MLB Draft Prospects – With only 291 day until the July 1st major league draft, it is time to consider the new crop of players from high school and colleges that the MLB teams will be considering. These names I am bring to you are in no particular order.
MLB Draft Prospect– Jackson Ferris
This 6’4″ and 185 lb. left handed pitcher has made a commitment to play college baseball to Ole Miss in Oxford,MS. He is from Mount Airy,N.C. and also plays some first base and outfield for his high school team at the IMG Academy in Florida. He spent his first to years of high school at his home school in Mount Airy,NC. It was upon the move that he ended his commitment of NC State and opened up recruiting.and he eventually ended it with his decision to go to Ole Miss.
He is part of the Perfect Game scouting service and they wrote this:
Primary lefthanded pitcher with a long projectable frame to build on, starts with a high leg lift, has a shorter quick arm action working to a three-quarters arm slot with good extension out front, does a nice job hiding the ball through the back creating some deception for hitters, the fastball showed exploding life through the zone sitting 87-90 mph and topped out at 91 mph, go to secondary pitch was the curveball that showed short 1-7 shape with good feel for the spin landing it for strikes, was dominate through two innings getting uncomfortable swings on the fastball. Excellent student.
He was one of ten candidates for MaxPreps Player of the Year. The award was given to Jack Walker of New Orleans, Louisiana. Ferris was named to the First Team All American for Max Preps. Ferris was named to the MaxPreps All-America Junior team and the Prep Baseball Report High School All-State squad.
In his first game in 2021 he threw a no-hitter and followed that with a perfect game. Currently, his fastball hits 95 mph and his curve comes in at 77 mph. He is projected to be a first round pick in the 2022 MLB draft. Check out this tweet from MLB Pipeline.
He is the top lefty in the draft and has electric stuff. He pitches well to both sides of the plate. His delivery is repeatable but does rush thing s a bit and temporarily has control issues with too many walks.
- This is just the first prospect of a list of about forty of the top mlb draft prospects for the 2022 draft on July 1. 2022.
